"This is a nifty find for teachers, and also just for use with your own kids at home. SolarBeat lets you view the solar system as a simple musical instrument. The planets revolve around the sun, each at its own speed and relative to the others. Once a planet crosses an imaginary line (which you can see in the screenshot above), it makes a short "ping" sound. A slider lets you control the "tempo," of the overall speed of movement."
